New Ambassadors present Credentials


Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Colombia and the Republic of Azerbaijan presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

His Excellency, Mr. Aurimas Taurantas, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Gra ina Taurantien , his daughter Ms. Giedr Taurantait and Mrs. Rasa Bubelien , First Secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania.

His Excellency, Dr. Alfonso López Caballero, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Josefina López and Mrs. Ines Elvira de Tynan, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Colombia to Ireland.

His Excellency, Mr. Rafael Ibrahimov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Dinara Ibrahimova, his son, Mr. Ayaz Ibrahimov and his daughter, Ms. Khamum Ibrahimova.

The following also attended the ceremony: Mr. Michael Ahern, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (with special responsibility for Trade and Commerce); Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dermot A. Gallagher, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Mr. Gerry Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol and Mr. Justin Dolan, Protocol Officer, at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin under the command of Lieutenant S. Walsh.

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by 28th Infantry Battalion, under the command of Lieutenant Ger Casey.

The Band of the Defence Forces School of Music was conducted by Commandant M. Armstrong.
