Presentation of Credentials of Ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Germany, Spain and Colombia
The following Ambassadors presented their credentials to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today:
His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany,
Dr.Gottfried Haas
His Excellency, the Ambassador of Spain, Mr. Enrique Pastor de Gana
His Excellency, the Ambassador of Colombia, Dr. Victor G. Ricardo
The Minister of State at the Department of at the Department of Environment and Local Government, Mr. Danny Wallace, T.D., was present at the ceremony.
The German Ambassador was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Béatrice Haas and Mr. Onno Huckmann, Minister-Counsellor at the German Embassy.
The Spanish Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Maria Isabel Guzmán de Pastor and Mrs.Aurora Díaz-Rato, Counsellor at the Spanish Embassy.
The Ambassador of Colombia was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Alicia Ricardo and Mrs. Elvira Ines de Tynan, Honorary Consul of Colombia in Dublin.
Also present were Mr. Brian McCarthy, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Joe Hayes, Assistant Secretary; Mr Brian Nason, Chief of Protocol; Mr. Joseph Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol and Mr James Hennessy, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Michael Holohan.
A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the Defence Force Training Centre, The Curragh, Co.Kildare, under the command of Lieutenant Darina Brennan.
The Army Number One Band was conducted by Commandant Joseph Ryan.
