Passport Application Tracking

The guaranteed turnaround time for passport applications submitted through the Passport Express service available through local Post Offices is 20 working days. Applications submitted through the ordinary post are currently taking approximately eight weeks to process.

A Priority System for processing passport applications for those with immediate travel plans has been introduced. Passport applications submitted with proof of immediate travel are guaranteed to be processed within 3 working days. An additional fee may apply. It is not possible to process passport applications in less than this 3 day guarantee.

Requests for information in respect of the turnaround time for applications submitted through Irish Embassies abroad should in the 1st instance be checked on the relevant Embassy website.

To track your individual passport application, enter your application number in the box below.

You will find your application number on the top left hand corner of the passport application form, directly below the barcode. If you received a receipt from An Post or from the Passport Office counter, you will find your application number under Application Barcodes on that receipt.
