New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Canada and the Islamic Republic of Iran presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

His Excellency Mr. Amr Mostafa Helmy, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Abir Helmy and Mr. Maged Abdel Rahman, Counsellor, Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

His Excellency Mr. Patrick G. Binns, Ambassador of Canada, was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Carol Binns and Mr. Richard Philippe, First Secretary, Embassy of Canada.

His Excellency Mr. Ebrahim Rahimpour, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was accompanied by Mr. Mashhoud Nohasi, Second Counsellor, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The following were also present at the ceremony: Mr. Michael Ahern T.D.,

Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and at the Department of Education and Science; Mr. Tim O’Connor, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Dan Mulhall, Assistant Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs;

Ms. Kathleen White, Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs;

Ms. Marion O’Donnell, Assistant Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

 

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of 2nd Lieutenant Laura Keane.

 

The Guard of Honour at Áras an Uachtaráin was provided by the SSU DFTC Curragh Camp, Co. Kildare, under the command of Lieutenant Brian Cahill.

 

The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Lieutenant Fergal Carroll.
