Tánaiste and Minister to attend EU Meetings

The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore T.D. and the Minister of State for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton T.D., are travelling to Brussels for the monthly meetings of the EU Foreign Affairs and the General Affairs Councils on Monday 18 July.

The Foreign Ministers will be discussing the EU's response to developments in:  

- the Middle East Peace Process;

- the Southern Neighbourhood, including the situations in Libya and in Syria;

- Pakistan;

- Afghanistan.

The Minister of State for European Affairs will also attend the General Affairs Council which will be discussing the multi-annual financial framework for the financing of the European Union from 2013-2020.

During his visit to Brussels the Tánaiste will also address the European Policy Centre (EPC) on the new Government's engagement with the EU.  The EPC is one of the largest independent policy centres in the EU, and brings together representatives of the professional and business federations, trade unions, as well as NGOs representing a broad range of civil society interests.
