Citizenship

All Foreign Birth Registration (FBR) applications are now managed centrally in Dublin. New applications should be made online at www.fbr.dfat.ie. Queries about submitted applications should be directed to the Foreign Birth Registration office in Dublin although please note that, due to the large volume of enquiries that are currently being received, response times are longer than usual.

For general queries about the FBR process, please consult the detailed information at www.fbr.dfat.ie. If you cannot find the information you require online, please contact the Foreign Birth Registration office in Dublin or complete the query form below. Please note, however, that if you are missing original documents for your application, certified copies can be acquired at www.certificates.ie. Please be advised also that Ireland does not offer citizenship on the basis that a person's great-grandparent was born in Ireland.
