Housekeeper at the Official Residence of the Embassy of Ireland

The Embassy of Ireland, Ottawa is seeking to recruit a housekeeper for the Official Accommodation of the Ambassador.

Our mission is to promote and protect abroad the values, interests and economic well-being of Ireland and its people.  We do this under the political direction of our Ministers, through our staff at home and through our Embassy network abroad.

Roles

·         Clean and maintain large Residence, including Ambassador’s private quarters and immediate external areas (patio and walkways);

·         Laundry and ironing duties;

·         Greet and serve guests of the Ambassador and spouse, which will include occasional evening work;

·         Prepare Residence for events including setting the table, service, and clean up;

·         Assist chef/caterer as needed;

·         Prepare meals as requested;

·         Work with Residence Manager to ensure Residence is fully equipped with household supplies; and

·         Other duties as required.

 

Candidate profile:

Essential requirements candidates must be able to demonstrate:

·         Fluency in English;

·         Minimum of three years relevant work experience;

·         Flexibility, including willingness to adjust working hours and days to meet needs of the daily running of the Residence is required; and

·         The successful candidate must have a legal entitlement to live and work in the Canada prior to recruitment.

 

Desirable

·         Experience in a diplomatic household will be considered favorably

 

Terms and Conditions of Employment

  • The successful candidates will be hired on a fixed-term contractual basis with 6-month probationary period and will work at the official accommodation.
  • The salary for the position is CAD 36,677.89 per annum, paid locally on a fortnightly basis. Salaries are paid direct to a bank account; therefore, the successful candidate must have a bank account.

Selection Process:

Depending on the number of applications received, a short-listing of candidates to be called for a competency-based interview may be undertaken based on the candidate profile above.

Security Clearance for Local Staff

Police vetting will be sought in respect of individuals who come under consideration for appointment. Enquiries may also be made with the police force of any country in which the applicant under consideration for appointment resided. If unsuccessful, this information will be destroyed. If the applicant subsequently comes under consideration for another position, they will be required to supply this information again.
