Applications are now open for the 2019 Irish Aid Fellowship Training Programme

The Irish Aid Fellowship Training Programme supports suitably qualified candidates from Malawi to undertake a Masters-level degree at universities and colleges in Ireland. Awards are available across a range of different fields with the aim of supporting and enhancing the contribution recipients can make to the development of Malawi.

Please note that applications are open to the selected partner organisations listed below only. Applications must be accompanied by a letter of endorsement from the head of the relevant organisation.

Irish universities are in the top 1% of research institutions in the world in terms of research impact in 19 fields, spanning natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities. The Fellowships programme provides an opportunity for Malawian students to join programmes that are driving innovation and changing lives worldwide.

The Fellowship covers course fees, required flights, accommodation, monthly allowances, insurance, and other incidental expenses. Academic programmes will commence between September and October 2019, and courses run for between 10 and 16 months. Interested applicants should review carefully the eligibility criteria before submitting an application. In particular, they should ensure that their application is endorsed by the head of their organisation, which must be one of those listed below.

A directory listing suitable courses for study in Ireland is available to applicants and the 2019 scholarship application form is available from https://www.irishaidfellowships.ie/strands/fellowship-training-programme

The Fellowship Training Programme forms part of the support Ireland is providing to support capacity building in Malawi and the wider pursuit of the country’s long-term development goals, particularly those outlined in the 2016-2020 Country Strategy Paper for Malawi. In selecting candidates for the programme, the Embassy places particular emphasis on applications that are closely aligned to the goals of the Embassy’s Country Strategy and the development goals of Malawi.
