Do I have to submit my current passport before I can get a new passport?

Please note those holding a valid Irish passport may now apply online to renew their passport.

Those applying through the Embassy need only submit a copy of their current passport, provided the passport issued after January 1st 2005. Please note once you receive your new passport you should not attempt to travel on the old one as it will be cancelled.
