Consular and Administration Officer

Role Profile:

The Embassy of Ireland Bangkok currently has a unique vacancy for a Consular and Administration Officer. This position offers an opportunity for the right candidate to be involved in almost all aspects of Embassy work including Consular work, event management, office administration, PA duties etc. The successful candidate will be dynamic, energetic and flexible. They will become knowledgeable about the wider work of the Embassy and will be broadly familiar with the Department's high level goals and objectives. The successful candidate will be willing to take on a range of different tasks as needed.

The contract will be for one year with a 3 month probationary period at the beginning. There may be a possibility of extending this contract to a second year depending on satisfactory performance. The salary will be 34,000 THB per month.

Consular Duties:

• Communicating with both Irish citizens and Thai people and applicants by email, phone and in person
• Providing accurate information regarding consular services and assistance in a timely manner
• Processing a range of consular applications
• Assisting the Consular Supervisor, Head of Mission and Deputy Head of Mission with providing consular assistance when required, including: visiting and liaising with staff and authorities at prisons, hospitals, immigration detention centres and airports; liaising with tourist police and national police
• Assisting with repatriation arrangements for ill Irish citizens
• Assisting with the repatriation of deceased Irish citizens' remains
• Preparing Emergency Travel Certificates
• Familiarity with the Consular Crisis Response Plan

Administrative Duties

• Assisting with the organisation and management of Embassy events on a regular basis
• Assisting the Ambassador's Executive Assistant as needed
• Assisting with asset management
• General office administrative tasks as needed

Required Skills and Qualities

The successful candidate will:

• Have excellent communication skills in both Thai and English (written and spoken)
• Have a minimum of 2-3 years office experience and be proficient in MS Office
• Have excellent customer service skills and be a good team player
• Be flexible and resilient, trustworthy and reliable
• Pay close attention to detail
• Be able to multitask and prioritise

Preferred experience

• Experience working at an Embassy/with the MFA
• Experience in events management
• Experience in customer service work
