Government takes decision allowing for formal recognition of Republic of South Sudan
05 July 2011“The Tánaiste today briefed the Cabinet on the situation in South Sudan which took a decision allowing for formal recognition by Ireland of the new State of the Republic of South Sudan which comes into being on 9 July.
Ireland will be represented at the independence ceremonies in Juba on 9 July by the Ambassador to Ethiopia who, it is proposed, will be accredited to the new State, on a non-residential basis.”
