Tánaiste’s Visit to Belfast

The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore, T.D., will visit Belfast tomorrow, 3 June 2011. While there, he will have meeting with the First Minister, Peter Robinson, MLA, Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, MLA and Minister for Justice, David Ford, MLA.

The Tánaiste will also visit the Ashton Centre, a community organisation which has received funding from the Reconciliation and Anti-Sectarianism Fund, and the Whitewell Community Surgery, which is supported by the International Fund for Ireland.

In advance of the visit the Tánaiste said:

‘I welcome this opportunity to meet with the First Minister and Deputy First Minister and to convey the congratulations of the new Irish Government to the new Northern Ireland Executive. I want to use these first formal meetings to begin a strong and productive relationship between our new Government and the new Executive to the benefit of all the people of this island.’
