Tánaiste launches new Export Trade Council
28/9/11The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore T.D., will tomorrow (Thursday 29 September) launch the inaugural meeting of the new Export Trade Council in Iveagh House.
The Tánaiste will be joined by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton T.D., the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadker T.D. and the Minister of State for Trade and Development, Jan O’Sullivan T.D. The Heads of the State Agencies that promote Ireland abroad, including the IDA, Enterprise Ireland, Bord Bia, Tourism Ireland, Culture Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland will also attend as well as representatives from the private sector, including IBEC and the Irish Exporters’ Association.
Speaking ahead of the event the Tánaiste said:
“With the launch of the new Export Trade Council we are delivering on a key commitment in the Programme for Government. This Government is committed to doing all in its power to support an export led recovery. As a relatively small player in the global market place, Ireland must go forward with a joined-up approach in promoting our trade, tourism and investment sectors.”
“At tomorrow’s meeting of the Export Trade Council we will be charting the course ahead; working together so that our resources and expertise are marshalled in a way that supports Irish firms, of all sizes, in all parts of the country, that are trading and growing their businesses overseas.”
