South Sudan – Consular Assistance24/12/13
The Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade is providing consular assistance to Irish citizens in South Sudan through the Embassy of Ireland in Addis Ababa and the Consular Crisis Section in Dublin.
Irish citizens are advised not to travel to South Sudan at this time. The Department has advised Irish citizens to leave the country by commercial means while this is still possible.
Contact has been made with all Irish citizens for whom we have contact details and they have all been offered the opportunity to avail of special flights organised by EU member States.
The Department will continue to assist Irish citizens who wish to leave South Sudan, and will endeavour to remain in contact with those who do not.
We are working in close cooperation with our EU and other partners in relation to flight and travel options for our citizens.
The Department is continuing to monitor the situation closely in South Sudan and will maintain contact with all Irish citizens in relation to their welfare and safety.
If you are concerned about any Irish citizen in South Sudan, please contact the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on (01) 4780822.
We continue to strongly advise Irish citizens travelling abroad to register with us on the Citizens’ Registration service on our website before they travel www.dfa.ie/travel/citizens-registration/
