"I am saddened to learn of the passing of Paul Goggins, MP.  Paul served as Minister at the Northern Ireland Office from 2007 to 2010, having been Parliamentary Under Secretary of State from 2006 to 2007.  During this time he worked closely with the Irish Government, particularly on Justice and Security issues.  He served his constituents and the people of Northern Ireland with great integrity and wisdom and his death is a loss to the profession of politics.  I wish to extend my condolences to his family and to his colleagues in the British Labour Party".
