MoS Sean Sherlock, Minister Charles Flanagan, Northern Ireland Peace Process, Press Releases, Ireland, Northern Ireland, 2014

The final of the All Island School Choir Competition is taking place in the Titanic building in Belfast this evening.

Speaking before the event, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Charlie Flanagan T.D said:

“Congratulations to the finalists in this year’s All Island School Choir Competition, along with my best wishes to all the schools who participated in the 2014 competition. To have reached the finals of this competition is a testimony to the hard work and enthusiasm of all involved.

“I am pleased that the All Island School Choir Competition has been supported by my Department’s Reconciliation Fund over the last number of years. Minister of State Sherlock and I have spent a great deal of time in Northern Ireland in recent times at the all party talks. This has deepened our appreciation for initiatives such as this competition which offers young people from across this island an opportunity to share their love of music and culture with one another, promoting cross-border cooperation and friendship."

"I would also like to congratulate the organisers of the competition, Co-operation Ireland and RTÉ, for organising this sixth year of the All-Island School Choir Competition.”
