Minister Flanagan visit to Northern Ireland

Following the successful conclusion of the political talks before Christmas, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan, TD, is travelling to Belfast today to meet with the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and to visit the Blackmountain Shared Space Project’s Peace Walls Programme, which is supported by the International Fund for Ireland.

Minister Flanagan said:

“I am very glad to return to Belfast so soon after the successful conclusion of Talks resulting in the Stormont House Agreement. I am looking forward to building on what was achieved as the Secretary of State and I now focus on the next phase – implementation.

“Today is also a valuable reminder that our work as politicians is only part of the equation – incredible efforts are being made by individuals and groups who are promoting reconciliation on the ground.

I look forward to meeting some of the dedicated individuals who are working across communities to build a brighter future together.”
