New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of Iceland, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Republic of Kazakhstan presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Mr. Thórdur Ægir Óskarsson is the Ambassador of Iceland.

H.E. Mr. Md. Abdul Hannan, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was accompanied by Mr. Sayem Ahmed, First Secretary at the Embassy.

H.E. Mr. Erzhan Kazykhanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Danara Kazykhanova, their daughter Aigerim, and by Mr. Murat Rustemov, Second Secretary at the Embassy.

Mr. Damien English, T.D., Minister of State for Skills, Research and Innovation at the Departments of Education and Skills and Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, represented the Government.

The following were also present: Mr. Art O’Leary, Secretary-General to the President; Mr. James Kingston, Assistant Secretary, Ms. Síle Maguire, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan and Ms. Claire Buckley, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Richard Piggott.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 27th Infantry Battalion, Aiken Barracks, Dundalk, Co. Louth, under the command of Lieutenant Tadhg McCarthy.

Captain Fergal Carroll conducted the Army No. 1 Band, Cathal Brugha Barracks.
