Minister Flanagan wishes the Irish Rugby Team success & urges fans travelling to be good ambassadors17/9/15
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan, TD, today extended his best wishes to the Irish rugby team and to Irish rugby fans travelling to Britain for the Rugby World Cup over the coming weeks. The Minister advised fans to enjoy the tournament but be conscious of their own personal safety, as always when visiting another country.
Minister Flanagan said:
“We are very lucky to have many of the finest rugby players of this generation representing the island of Ireland in the 2015 Rugby World Cup in Britain.
“The fact that the tournament is taking place so close to home ensures that large numbers of Irish supporters will travel over to both England and Wales for the matches and it promises to be a tremendous occasion.
“I encourage those travelling to consult the website of our Embassy in London to obtain practical, helpful information on public transport, stadium access, and available consular services.
“I urge all of those who are travelling to Britain for the tournament to be conscious of their personal safety, as always when visiting another country, and to make themselves aware of the consular assistance that the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade can offer them should they find themselves in need of such assistance.
“I wish our brilliant team every success and I urge our supporters to follow their example and be good ambassadors of our country during their time visiting Britain for the tournament.”
