Minister Sherlock meets Irish exporters at Enterprise Ireland International Markets Week

Minister of State for Trade at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Seán Sherlock, TD, today visited Enterprise Ireland’s International Markets Week taking place at the RDS. Minister Sherlock met with Irish exporters and representatives from Enterprise Ireland’s international network of offices and discussed how best to support overseas market opportunities for Irish companies and how the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade might best support these efforts.

International Markets Week (IMW) is the largest client event organised by Enterprise Ireland and one of the largest business events in Ireland. This week over 400 Enterprise Ireland clients will meet with representatives from Enterprise Ireland’s overseas offices, as well as with staff based in Ireland in areas such as internet marketing, public procurement, capability and mentoring, banking, research and innovation, Horizon 2020 and global sourcing.

Speaking during his tour of IMW, Minister Sherlock said:

“As Minister of State for Trade, I am very pleased to attend Enterprise Ireland International Markets Week once again to meet and support Ireland’s thriving exporting community. I am particularly interested in identifying areas where the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, especially through its Embassy network and working in close collaboration with Enterprise Ireland and other State agencies, can best assist Ireland’s exporters in further developing their overseas operations.”

“This year alone I have taken part in four Enterprise Ireland trade missions, leading two to the UK focussing on the water tech, aviation and aerospace sectors, one to France also focussed on the aviation and aerospace sector, and participating in an Enterprise Ireland market study visit to Estonia, a world leader in the digital economy.”

Minister Sherlock will give the opening at the PharmaChemical Ireland Conference in Cork on Wednesday (23 September) and will also give the opening address at the Interactive Clustering Workshop series organised by Cork Institute of Technology on Monday next (28 September).
