Minister Flanagan condemns terrorist attack in Egypt

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan T.D., has condemned the fatal terrorist attack which took place earlier today in El-Arish in the Egyptian Sinai peninsula.

“I offer the sympathies of the Irish people and the Government of Ireland to the families of those who lost their lives in today’s terrorist attack, to those who were injured and to the Egyptian nation at this difficult time.

“Egypt has repeatedly suffered from the scourge of terrorism in recent years and this latest terrorist attack in Egypt represents an unacceptable crime against the Egyptian nation.

“Terrorism threatens the safety and rights of all Egyptians and I condemn this attack unreservedly.

“I would urge any Irish citizens currently in Egypt or considering travelling to Egypt to consult the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade’s travel advice at https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/ .”
