Statement of condolences by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney, T.D., to the peoples of Iran and Iraq

The Minister for Foreign Affairs & Trade, Mr. Simon Coveney T.D., has expressed his condolences to the peoples of Iran and Iraq on the death and injury suffered as a result of Sunday’s earthquake.

Minister Coveney said:

It was with great sadness that I learned about the devastating earthquake in Iran and Iraq. I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the Governments and peoples of Iran and Iraq, and in particular to the families of those who have lost their lives or who have been injured as a result of this disaster.

"The Irish embassies in the region are monitoring the situation, and have received no reports so far of Irish citizens affected by the earthquake. Anyone with concerns should contact my department on 01 408 2000."
