Minister Simon Coveney, Disarmament, Press Releases, Global, 2017

Tuesday, October 17th 2017: The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney T.D is pleased to announce the commencement of the 31st Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) Plenary Meeting in Dublin.

This meeting marks the beginning of the joint Irish/Icelandic co-chairmanship of the MTCR and it will be the first time that either Ireland or Iceland have chaired an international export control regime.

This event will bring together over 260 delegates from 35* countries from around the world  and will provide an opportunity for MTCR partners to explore further measures to strengthen existing export control regimes to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Assuming the role of Chair of the MTCR will enable Ireland to further demonstrate its long standing commitment to disarmament and non-proliferation, one of five signature foreign policies for Ireland.
