Speaking ahead of her visit Minister McEntee said:

"Ireland has excellent bilateral relations with Portugal and we have trading relationship worth about €1.5 billion per annum.  I am looking forward to the opportunity to participate in a dialogue on the Future of Europe.  This discussion, happening throughout Europe at the moment, listens to citizens and shapes the future direction of Europe around their views, and makes Europe work better for them.

"I will also meet with my counterpart Minister Ana Paula Zacarias to discuss issues including Brexit, the Multi-Annual Financial Framework and the Future of Europe. We thank Portugal for their ongoing support regarding the Irish protocol in the Brexit negotiations; all EU 27 member states remain totally united behind Michel Barnier and his taskforce."
