Minister Byrne to welcome his Czech counterpart, Deputy Foreign Minister for EU Affairs Aleš Chmelař

The Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne TD, will welcome his Czech counterpart, Deputy Foreign Minister for EU Affairs Aleš Chmelař to Dublin today.

Commenting on the visit, Minister Byrne said:

“I am very pleased to welcome Deputy Foreign Minister Chmelař to Dublin. The Czech Republic and Ireland have a strong bilateral relationship and are like-minded across many EU issues. This visit is an excellent opportunity to continue to deepen that relationship, particularly as our two countries emerge from the pandemic and look towards European recovery and the Future of Europe. I very much look forward to further bilateral visits between Dublin and Prague in the months and years ahead.”

A wide range of issues are expected to be discussed in the meeting including EU Recovery, the Conference on the Future of Europe, the Czech Republic’s 2022 EU Presidency, EU Climate Action, the EU’s digital transition.
