Lecture with Kate Strain, New Director Grazer Kunstverein

The Embassy of Ireland is delighted to support an event that brings together two important members of the Austrian cultural scene. Kate Strain, the new artistic director of the Grazer Kunstverein, will give a lecture on her vision for the museum in the Salzburger Kunstverein on 27 September at 19:00

Kate Strain is the new artistic director of the Grazer Kunstverein, effective September 1, 2016. The Grazer Kunstverein is a leading art institution, presenting international, vibrant curatorial practice. She has worked across a range of organisations, from the muti-disciplinary Project Arts Centre, Dublin, to the rural art space Cow House Studios, Wexford, Ireland. In 2016, Strain co-founded the first Department of Ultimology, at Trinity College Dublin. She was a participant of the Young Curators Residency Programme at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, Italy (2016), and completed the de Appel Curatorial Programme, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2013/14).

Kate Strain will speak about her projects and the future vision of the Grazer Kunstverein. She will be available for a dialogue with the public and members of the Kunstverein.

Kate Strain will be introduced by Séamus Kealy, Director of the Salzburger Kunstverein. Séamus has been director oF the museum in Salzburg since 2014. Before that, he spet five years as director of The Model in Sligo.
