1916 Uprising Show

1916 Uprising Show
City Diggers, Wollongong

11 March 2016 – 7.30pm-11pm

The ‘1916 Uprising Show’ is a mix of music and narration covering the history of Ireland and illuminating the 1916 Easter Rising.

The involvement of women in 1916 will be highlighted and there will be an emphasis on the signatories of the Proclamation and their works. The narrator will be joined by a choir of fourteen and a team of musicians playing the cello, guitar, viola, bodhrán and whistle.

The bilingual performance will feature songs including Óró, Sé Do Bheatha Abhaile, Grace, Mná na h-Eireann and The Foggy Dew. There have already been two performances of the show at the Illawarra Folk Festival and there will be two more performances at the National Folk Festival in Canberra.

More details on the event in Wollongong are available on the Illawarra Folk Club website.
