Can I get my passport today?

We cannot issue your passport on the same day. In an emergency situation (the death or serious illness of a family member), we can issue you an emergency travel document on the same day. Please note that if you receive an emergency travel document you will then need to apply for an exit visa to leave China, which can take approximately five working days.

In all other circumstances, you will have to wait the appropriate length of time to get your passport. Valid proof of confirmed travel (e.g. airline ticket/email), and evidence that an expedited application is required on humanitarian grounds or in cases of medical need, must be presented in order for any application to be processed sooner than the standard turnaround.

The current standard processing time is six to eight weeks.
