Ambassador James Sherry

Ambassador of Ireland James Sherry and President Alar Karis

Welome Message

A chairde, Sõbrad,

Welcome you to the website of the Embassy of Ireland in Estonia. I hope that you will find it a useful and informative resource.

A key goal of the Embassy is to support the strong, warm and friendly relations between Ireland and Estonia – their governments and peoples.

Ireland and Estonia share common bonds and common values. We share a love of language, culture and heritage - and understand their power to sustain a nation through challenging times.

We recognise that we can amplify our voices as small independent nations by working closely together – including as we have recently as elected members of the United Nations Security Council, seeking to uphold international peace and security.

We are both small but effective and enthusiastic members of the European Union who share similar outlooks as we strive to maintain modern, open, and dynamic economies and societies. We share core values including the importance of respect for human rights and the rule of law, and the importance and value of education.

I look forward to building on the excellent work of my predecessors to ensure the continued positive engagement between Ireland and Estonia - politically, economically and culturally – into the future.

Le gach dhea-ghuí, Parimate soovidega,

James Sherry
