What is the role of the witness?

Before you submit your application form at the Embassy, you must have it witnessed by an appropriate person.

The witness must be from one of the following professions only and:

(a) must be currently residing and practicing in Estonia,
(b) must not be related in any way to the applicant,
(c) must either know the applicant in person or know a third party who knows the applicant in person.

  • Medical Doctor
  • Bank Manager
  • School Principal or Class Teacher
  • Head of Department at a university/college
  • Notary public or Solicitor (must be registered with the local law society)

Your witness needs to:

  • Fully complete Section E of your application form - 'Certificate of Identity'
  • Sign and date your 2 passport-sized photographs. (If you’re under 18, a parent must also sign the photographs and submit 2 passport-sized photographs of himself/herself. The parent’s photos must also be signed and dated by the witness.)
  • Witness you signing Section 7 (if applicable) and Section 9 of your application form
  • Provide a business/work address and contact number. Private address for a witness will not be accepted.

Remember...

If your application hasn't been properly witnessed, it will be returned to you.
