Applications are invited for a permanent, full-time Administration Officer and Embassy Driver working to senior diplomatic and administrative staff (contrat à durée indéterminée - CDI), at the Embassy of Ireland, Paris beginning in July.

 

The main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Postal communications: oversight of postal communications, including distribution of incoming post, franking and dispatch of outgoing post. Diplomatic bag processing;
  • Administrative duties: including maintenance of office inventory, management of stationery including procurement, storage, and distribution. Occasional filing and archive work;
  • Office maintenance duties: small maintenance and DIY, including maintenance of printers, computers, photocopiers, and procurement and provision of office furniture;
  • Office moves, furniture removal and installation, including event preparation;
  • Liaising with the administrative team to plan maintenance work, sourcing companies and quotes for work. Supervising maintenance and renovation work by external contractors;
  • Sourcing car hire service when additional cars are needed;
  • Embassy driver

 

Required skills and experience:

 

The following are key competencies or experience required for the positon:

  • Native or fluent French, with basic level of English required;
  • Candidates must have at least 12 months professional driving experience;
  • Clean and current driving license and highly competent driving skills;
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills;
  • Knowledge of MS office, particularly excel and outlook;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends;
  • Candidates must show capacity for flexibility and be willing to work to meet deadlines.

The following competencies are desirable:

  • Experience working in an international office environment;
  • Experience of working to or with high level people;
  • An interest in Ireland and Franco/Irish relations.

 

The successful candidate must have a legal entitlement to live and work in the France prior to recruitment. A French social security number is required.

 

Salary:

 

The basic gross salary will be €2,780.26 per month, plus allowance. The statutory probation period will apply. Salaries are paid direct to a bank account, therefore, the successful candidate must have a bank account.

Security Clearance for Local Staff:

Police security clearance will be sought in respect of individuals who come under consideration for appointment. Enquiries may also be made with the police force of any country in which the applicant under consideration for appointment resided. If unsuccessful, this information will be destroyed. If the applicant subsequently comes under consideration for another position, they will be required to supply this information again.
