How to apply for a passport

Apply Online

This is the fastest and cheapest way to get your first Irish passport or renew your passport. Once you have your photo, it only takes about ten minutes!

You cannot apply online if you have already submitted a paper application.

If you are resident outside Ireland and do not qualify or wish to use the online system, you need to use an APS2 application form.

If you are resident in Greece, you need to use an APS2 application form.

How to Pay

We do not accept cash (even for payment in person), credit/debit cards, cheques or postal prders.

Fees should be paid by bank transfer to the following account:

Please make sure that you include a copy of the bank transfer counterfoil slip (or printout if the transfer is done online) with your application. Please make sure to include your name in the narrative of the transfer, so that we can identify your payment.

The Passport Section is open to the public from 09.30 – 13.00hrs Monday to Friday.

We would encourage you to consult the relevant section of our website regarding the service you require before contacting the Embassy. Passport application forms can be ordered online.

If you choose to post your application, we strongly recommend you to use registered mail or a reputable courier service. The Embassy cannot be held responsible for applications or documents lost in transit.
