St Patrick's Day events in Nairobi

The first official St Patrick's Day celebrations in Nairobi in over 30 years were held in March 2015. The Embassy of Ireland, which re-opened in late 2014, organised formal and informal events featuring Irish traditional musicians brought over especially for St Patrick's Day/ The celebrations brought together representatives of the Kenyan government, and Irish and Kenyans from the fields of education, development and business. A highlight of the day for many Kenyans and Irish was the playing of both national anthems on the harp!

Informal events organised by the Embassy also brought traditional Irish music to a wider audience in Kenya, to the delight of both the Irish and Kenyan audiences.

The St Patrick's Day celebrations marked the first events hosted by the new Embassy, and they marked the long shared history of Ireland and Kenya.
