Seoul International Writers Festival (SIWF)

Under the theme of “Eros and Dream,” the 2014 5th Seoul International Writers’ Festival (SIWF) will bring together a total of 28 writers, from Korea and all across the globe to Seoul’s historic neighbourhood of Bukchon from September 23 through 27.

Book readings will take place at the Bukchon Changwoo Theater on September 23 and 24, and then at the NaMu Modern & Contemporary Art Gallery on September 25 and 26.

The biennial literary festival will welcome Northern Irish poet Dr Sinead Morrissey to Korea for the first time. Dr Morrissey the recently announced winner of the ‘Irish times poetry Now award’ for 2014 has countless accolades to her name such as the prestigious ‘Lannan Foundation Fellowship and the Patrick Kavanagh poetry Award.

In January of this year she received the T.S Eliot prize for her fifth collection Parallax. Sinead received her BA and PHD degrees from Trinity College Dublin and is currently a writer in residence and lecturer at Queens University Belfast.
