Vacancy: Temporary Housekeeper

The Embassy of Ireland in Sierra Leone is recruiting for the position of Housekeeper on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.

The period of employment will start as soon as possible and conclude at the beginning of May.

Role and responsibilities

Cleaning and maintaining chancery premises to meets sanitation requirements and provide a comfortable space for employees and a presentable meeting space for guests.

Duties

  • Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures in offices;
  • Ensure all offices and rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards;
  • Clean and sanitise toilets, showers/bathtubs, countertops, and sinks;
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen area;
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary space in all offices;
  • Wash windows and curtains;
  • Clean, vacuum and polish floors;
  • Clean mirrors and other glass surfaces;
  • Empty trash and dispose of waste;
  • Keep bathrooms stocked with clean linens, toiletries, and other supplies;
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and consumables and order more as needed;
  • Report any damage or repairs needed;
  • Deal with complaints and requests with professionalism and patience;
  • Adhere strictly to the Mission’s rules regarding health and safety and other administrative guidelines;
  • Assist guests when necessary.

Essential requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in cleaning and sanitising rooms;
  • Willingness to learn new cleaning methods and how to use various pieces of equipment;
  • Ability to adapt to different situations and change work processes to accommodate Embassy needs;
  • Ability to listen to feedback to ensure that the needs of the Embassy are met;
  • Good customer service skills, reliability, integrity and honesty;
  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance;
  • Prioritization and time management skills;
  • Working efficiently without compromising quality;
  • Knowledge of the English language;
  • High school certificate;
  • The successful candidate must have a legal entitlement to live and work in Sierra Leone prior to recruitment.
