St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is a time of celebration in Ireland and for all those of Irish descent and affinity.

Ljubljana Castle greening - St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is a global celebration of what it means to be Irish; the spirit; the determination; the creativity and that indefinable something that makes us who we are.

It is a great time for Ireland to engage with and thank long-standing partners, friends, voluntary and community organisations and Irish communities around the word for their ongoing support and the contributions they make overseas.

St. Patrick's Day also gives us a valuable opportunity to show the world that Ireland is open for business and to underline the close links between key trading partners. It also affords us an unrivalled opportunity to show the world the very best of our culture.

St. Patrick's Day in Slovenia

To Celebrate St. Patrick's Day the Embassy of Ireland in Ljubljana is organising a special programme of events, "Irish Days in Ljubljana". From 14 to 19 March our partners will offer a week of Irish cuisine, free Irish dance workshops, an Irish trad music session and other events. The week will conclude on 19 March with the Embassy hosting Irish and local artists at a concert in the Slovenian Philharmonic hall.

The Embassy of Ireland has again included Ljubljana in the "Global Greening" project in which the Irish tourism agency greens over 180 world-famous attractions, including Ljubljana Castle and the Slovenian Philharmonic. However, since this year the project coincides with the "Ljubljana - Green Capital of Europe" project, the Embassy will arrange the lighting of the castle with an Irish twist.
