Turnaround times - Today?

How long does it take to process a passport application from South Africa? Can I get my passport today?

It is not possible to process a passport application the same day that it is submitted because all passports are produced in Dublin. Processing time for passport applications submitted in South Africa is normally 8 weeks from the date a fully completed and correct application is received by the Embassy. This can vary, however, depending on overall volume levels to be processed in Dublin.

Applicants are reminded to apply for a new passport in advance of running out of pages in their passport or if their passport has less than six months validity left.

The Embassy strongly recommends against making any travel plans if you do not have a valid passport in your possession.

Applications submitted at the Honorary Consulate in Zimbabwe or Botswana will take longer to process. Please consult with that office in regard to expected processing time.
