The Code of Conduct, which Ireland played a leading role in drafting, commits organisations active in the health sector to work together to achieve Tanzania's goal of reaching all households with quality healthcare. Among the principles included in the Code of Conduct are a commitment to work in a spirit of openness and mutual respect, to align activities with the national strategic plan for Health and to avoid overlaps in financial, technical and advisory support.

In presenting the Code of Conduct, the Ministry of Health highlighted the importance of coordinating all partners noting that a collaborative approach facilitates better organisation and distribution of support to the sector.

Deputy Permanent Secretary for Health for the Department for Regional Administration and Local Government commended the range of organizations committing to the Code of Conduct, noting the variety of roles that donors, civil society organisations and private sector play in improving the quality of Tanzania's health system and the health of Tanzanian citizens.
