Irish Culture

Ireland has a rich cultural heritage which we share through special events with the people of Tanzania.

The Embassy is involved in a broad range of cultural activities that raise awareness of Ireland and enhance our ties with Tanzania.

Our main cultural events take place around St. Patrick's Day in the month of March. St. Patrick's Day is a global celebration of what it means to be Irish; the spirit, the determination, the creativity and that indefinable something that makes us who we are. Ireland is capable of great things and every year, the Embassy uses St Patrick's Day to show the world just what we can do. Irish musicians play at the Ambassador's Reception on our National Day, March 17, and at other events organised by the Irish Society of Tanzania.

The Embassy participates in the Annual European Union Film Festival showcasing Irish cinema with Irish films being supplied courtesy of the Irish Film Institute.

The works of playwrights are also regularly performed in Dar es Salaam by the Irish Society of Tanzania's Theatre Group or by the Dar es Salaam Players Group.
