Covid-19 Vaccines in Thailand

Covid-19 Vaccines in Thailand

We are aware that the developing 3rd wave of the Covid-19 outbreak in Thailand is a particularly concerning time for many citizens.

The Embassy of Ireland, along with other like-minded nations, have again made renewed representations to the Government of Thailand regarding the equitable provision of COVID-19 vaccines to all citizens, including Irish citizens resident in Thailand, on the basis of age, vulnerability and need.

The Government of Thailand have announced that all persons aged 75 and over in the Bangkok area can avail of the walk-in vaccination service between 09:00 - 16:00 daily at the Central Vaccination Centre located at Bangsue Grand Station. Vaccination registration for foreign residents aged 60 and over ONLY (born in 1961 or before) residing in Bangkok and the neighbouring provinces of Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakarn, and Samut Sakhon is now available at https://forms.gle/ULAqvx8eiDoX3v5Q9. Foreign residents residing in other provinces, are advised to please contact their provincial health authorities or your provincial hospitals.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs have also now stated that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health, it will open this month a new online platform for the registration of foreign nationals residing in Thailand wishing to be vaccinated.

However, the position in the matter is that the Government of Ireland does not provide healthcare to Irish citizens residing outside the State. The Irish Embassy network globally has no role in the procurement of vaccines or the registration of Irish citizens for vaccinations abroad anywhere in the world. The roll-out of vaccinations here in the Kingdom of Thailand is entirely a matter for the Government of Thailand.

Accordingly, the Embassy can only advise citizens to continue to engage with the Thai Vaccination Program through registrations with the main hospitals in their area and the online registration platforms offered by the Ministry of Public Health during the periods they open for registration. Irish citizens should also continue to follow local Thai media as well as the PR Thai Government Facebook and Twitter pages for daily updates on the developing Covid-19 situation in Thailand. The Embassy will continue to post updates as they become available through our Twitter and Facebook social media channels.
