Doing Business with Ireland

Samuel Beckett Bridge, Dublin, Ireland

The Embassy works closely with Enterprise Ireland in Istanbul to promote trade and inward investment.

Ireland and Turkey enjoy a strong economic and trade partnership.

Annual trade is worth approximately €1.4 billion (including services), roughly 55% in Ireland's favour. Total merchandise trade in 2013 was valued at €741M. Irish exports made up of €454m of that total. Our chief merchandise exports to Turkey include medical and pharmaceutical products; essential oils; chemical materials; office & data processing machines.

Enterprise Ireland opened an office in Istanbul in January 2014, to support Irish companies target export opportunities in the Turkish market.

Turkey is the fifth most popular summer holiday destination for Irish tourists (around 120,000 annually).

With Enterprise Ireland we work to:

  • Support Irish companies who want to access the Turkish market
  • Provide general advice on doing business locally and, through our networks of contacts, pursue opportunities that will benefit Ireland
  • Work to secure market access for Irish products in key sectors
  • Promote Ireland as a location for tourism and for investment.
