Ireland Week, Los Angeles, 14 - 21 October 2017

Ireland Week has arrived!

Ireland Week

We are excited to share with you details about Ireland Week which is taking place in Los Angeles from 14 – 21 October.  It promises to be a fantastic week highlighting Irish-US relations in true west coast style!

The purpose of this venture is to showcase Ireland’s modern culture and to connect Irish and American creative and business professionals.  A complete and up-to-date schedule of the performances, conferences and events are available on IrelandWeek.com.

The week will begin with a screening of the film, "Inside I'm Racing" as part of the Awareness Film Fest 2017.  On Monday, Ireland Week & Music from Ireland presents "Itsaschoolnight" featuring some of our incredibly talented musicians including Lisa Hannigan and the Strypes.  Ambassador Dan Mulhall is participating in the Pop up gaeltacht by Conradh na Gaelige on Wednesday 18th at Rock n' Reillys.

Connect 353, at the core of Ireland Week, takes place on the Thursday with multiple discussion panels.  Minister of State, Michael D'Arcy and Ambassador Dan Mulhall are participating in the opening session on International trade, finance and the Brexit effect.  We are also very excited that the Director, Producer and Irish Co-Producer of Star Wars: The Last Jedi are involved! Throughout the day, there will be discussions on a diverse range of topics from the Irish music industry, to Irish animation and gaming. There will also be a focus on bilateral Irish-US relations, as well as on the emerging tech industry in Ireland and on tourism.

One of the final events on the Saturday evening is a performance by the ever popular Panti Bliss at the Hollywood Improv Comedy Club.

Throughout the week there will also be a variety of cultural events to promote the Irish food and entertainment industry, which currently supports over 78,000 jobs in Ireland.  On the goals and objectives for the week ahead, Ireland Week has said that with direct connectivity between Los Angeles and Dublin, “we aim to capitalise by making this event a two way international superhighway. Ireland displays its talents abroad while encouraging inward investment, tourism, jobs and cultural awareness.”
