March activities in Sofia

St Patrick's Day on the 17th March is a day of festivity and celebration for Irish people in Sofia and throughout the world. As part of the festivity this year, The National Palace of Culture (NDK) will be greened. This is the first occasion Sofia has participated in the world wide greening associated with St. Patrick's Day.

This year our National Day occurs during the period of the Jameson sponsored Sofia International Film Festival. As part of the festival program, three Irish films are being screened this year. These include the two Irish Oscar nominated films 'Room' and 'Brooklyn'. Also being screened is the film 'Mammal' which is directed by Rebecca Daly. Rebecca will visit Sofia during the festival and is expected to discuss the movie at its initial screening.

Other events associated with our National Day are the St. Patrick's Day Ball, which takes place at the Hilton Hotel on this Friday at 7.30pm and the Ambassador's Reception which will take place on St. Patrick's Day.
