What to do if I find a passport I'd reported lost/stolen?

Never travel on a passport if it has been reported lost or stolen. All such passports are reported to Interpol and you run the risk of being stopped at border crossings and experiencing delays and complications.

You should return the passport either to the Embassy of Ireland in Budapest, or to the Passport Office in Ireland, with a brief explanation.
