Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of Ireland in Luxembourg.
It is a great honour for me to serve as Ambassador of Ireland in Luxembourg. I presented credentials on 9 October 2019 to H.R.H. the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and I am looking forward to representing Ireland and deepening the excellent relationship between the two countries.
Both myself and the Deputy Head of Mission, Teresa Sweeney, arrived in Luxembourg on 9 September 2019. Teresa’s appointment marks a welcome return to the full complement of two Irish diplomats here, following the cutbacks of ten years ago. Coming at the same time as the opening of a large number of new Irish Embassies and Consulates around the world in the last couple of years, this demonstrates the continuing commitment of the Government and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to relations with Luxembourg and with the community here.
My immediate background is a number of years in Dublin dealing with political relations with and concerning the Middle East, and I have also worked at two stages on policy relating to Northern Ireland, including the negotiation of the Good Friday Agreement, a definite highlight for any Irish diplomat’s career. My foreign postings have included Rome, Ottawa, London and Vienna, as well as other assignments. Teresa has come directly from the Irish Embassy in Nairobi. So for both of us the work in Luxembourg will be a change.
Details of events which will be of interest to the Irish community in Luxembourg, and indeed friends of Ireland, will be published regularly in the News and Events section of this website.
The Embassy is here to assist Irish people who may require support so please do contact us if we can be of assistance.
With best wishes
Stephen Dawson

Fáilte chuig suíomh gréasáin oifigiúil Ambasáid na hÉireann i Lucsamburg.
Is mór an onóir domsa feidhmiú mar Ambasadóir na hÉireann i Lucsamburg. Ar an 9 Deireadh Fómhair 2019, chuir mé dintiúir faoi bhráid a Mhórgachta, Ard-Diúc Lucsamburg, agus táim ag dúil le hionadaíocht a dhéanamh ar Éirinn agus leis an gcaidreamh iontach atá i réim idir an dá thír a fhorbairt.
Shroich mé féin agus Leas-Cheannaire an Mhisin, Teresa Sweeney, Lucsamburg ar an 9 Meán Fómhair 2019. Cuirimid fáilte roimh cheapachán Teresa nó fágann sé go bhfuil foireann iomlán de bheirt taidhleoirí Éireannacha anseo arís, tar éis na gciorruithe a rinneadh deich mbliana ó shin. Léiríonn sé sin, agus é ag teacht comhthreomhar leis an líon mór Ambasáidí agus Consalachtaí de chuid na hÉireann atá á n-oscailt ar fud an domhain le blianta beaga anuas, tiomantas leantach an Rialtais agus na Roinne Gnóthaí Eachtracha agus Trádála i leith dea-chaidrimh le Lucsamburg agus leis an bpobal anseo.
Táim féin tar éis roinnt blianta a chaitheamh i mBaile Átha Cliath ag plé leis an gcaidreamh polaitiúil leis an Meán-Oirthear agus i dtaca leis an Meán-Oirthear, agus tá obair déanta agam dhá bhabhta roimhe seo ar chúrsaí polasaí a bhaineann le Tuaisceart Éireann, lena n-áirítear idirbheartaíocht Chomhaontú Aoine an Chéasta, buaicphointe cinnte i ngairmréim aon taidhleora de chuid na hÉireann. Ar na poist a bhí agam thar lear, bhí an Róimh, Ottawa, Londain agus Vín, mar aon le poist eile nach iad. Tá Teresa díreach tar éis teacht ó Ambasáid na hÉireann i Nairobi. Mar sin de, athrú a bheidh ann don bheirt againn, an obair seo i Lucsamburg.
Foilseofar sonraí ar bhonn rialta maidir le himeachtaí a mbeidh spéis ag an bpobal Éireannach i Lucsamburg, agus leoga, cairde na hÉireann, iontu ar rannán Nuacht agus Imeachtaí an tsuímh gréasáin seo.
Tá an Ambasáid anseo chun cabhrú le hÉireannaigh a bhféadfadh sé tacaíocht a bheith ag teastáil uathu, mar sin, ná bíodh aon drogall ort teagmháil a dhéanamh linn más féidir linn cabhrú leat.
Le dea-mhéin
