My current passport only expires in a few months. Can I keep it while my application is being processed?

In order to process a passport application, the Embassy must see your current original passport. A photocopy of your passport is not accepted.

If you come to the Embassy in person to submit your passport application, we will take a copy of your passport, and you can then hold on to it until the new one arrives.

When you come to collect your new passport at the Embassy, you will have to submit your current passport for cancellation.
