How quickly can I get my passport?

The current standard processing time is approximately 4-6 weeks.

A temporary passport can be issued on the day only in the case of an emergency situation.

In general you should allow 4 weeks for the processing of your passport via the Embassy or the Honorary Consulates. This includes the time it takes to forward your application to the Dublin Passport Office where the new passport is printed and returned to the Embassy. Processing times may be longer in periods of increased travel such as the summer or around Christmas.

Valid proof of confirmed travel (e.g. airline ticket/email) must be presented in order for any application to be processed sooner than the standard turnaround. You may incur an additional fee. Please contact us immediately if you require a passport urgently.

We also provide assistance if you are in Portugal or Morocco on holiday and your passport has been lost or stolen.
