Fees and Payment

The fee depends on the type of passport you apply for:

Standard Passports

Standard 10-year passport:


Large 66-page, 10-year passport:


Standard 5-year passport for those between 3 and 18 years:


Standard 3-year passport for those under 3 years:


Temporary Passports



Under 18s:


Emergency Travel Certificates


Only intended for people who have lost their passport, or who have had their passport stolen, and must urgently travel to Ireland

*All applications made by post are subject to a €2,50 postage fee.

We do not accept credit or debit cards. The Embassy accepts postal orders (these can be obtained from your local post office) or personal cheques drawn from a Portuguese bank account. Postal orders and cheques should be made payable to “Embassy of Ireland” or “Embaixada da Irlanda”.

Cash payments are accepted if the passport applicant applies personally at the Embassy; please do not send cash with a postal application.
