How much does an Irish Passport cost?

Fees and Payment

The fee depends on the type of passport you apply for:

Standard Passports

Paper application fees

Adult 10-year passport:


Adult Large 10 year Passport (66 pages)


Minor, age 0 – 17 years, 5 year Passport


Postage fee (if you want the Embassy in Lisbon to send your passport by registered post within Portugal)


Methods of payment

The Embassy in Lisbon accepts the following methods of payment:

  • Postal orders (which can be obtained from your local post office and made out to "Embassy of Ireland" or "Embaixada da Irlanda")
  • Bank transfer into the Embassy's bank account (Not applicable to emergency passports): Account Dep. Foreign Affairs Ireland / IBAN: PT50001000002008508000180 / SWIFT/BIC: BBPIPTPL. Be sure to include printed proof of bank transfer with your application form.
  • Cash if applying personally at the Embassy. Please do not send cash in the post.

The Embassy does not accept credit/debit cards, personal cheques or bank drafts.

Cash payments are accepted if passport applicant applies personally at the Embassy; please do not send cash with a postal application.

Temporary Passports


Only intended for people who have lost their passport, or who have had their passport stolen, and must urgently travel to Ireland
