Embassy co-hosts European Chamber of Commerce networking night in Seoul

Together with the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK), the Embassy in Seoul co-hosted a network event in a new Irish pub, Dublin Nana Street, Gangnam, Seoul. About ninety people attended a night of food, culture and networking.

The 2015 World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea

The World University Games are well underway in Gwangju, South Korea. Some 20,000 athletes and officials have arrived in the city to take part. Ireland have sixty-four high performance competitors in athletics, swimming, golf, archery, judo, and mens and womens football.

Unveiling Ceremony of the Information Panel at the site of the Battle of Happy Valley

On 26 June at 3pm, the formal unveiling ceremony will take place for the Information Panel marking the Battle of Happy Valley. Col W R H Charley, Veteran of the Royal Ulster Rifles Regiment, has arrived in Korea to attend the event commemorating the battle in which he fought sixty-four years ago as part of the 1950-1953 Korean War.

Presidential Distingushed Service Award nominations for 2015

It provides recognition by the Irish State for persons living abroad (primarily Irish citizens, those entitled to Irish citizenship and those of Irish descent), who have given sustained and distinguished service to Ireland and/or Irish communities abroad. 

Seoul's Iconic Landmarks Turn Green for St Patrick's

Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin T.D visits Seoul from 18 – 21 March

St. Patrick’s Day offers a unique opportunity to promote Ireland’s economic and political interests overseas, with levels of publicity and media attention unmatched by the national day of any other country. Minister Howlin’s visit will provide the Irish Government with an opportunity to maximise the promotion of Ireland’s trade, tourism, education services and investment interests and to spread a positive message about Ireland’s economic recovery.

‘Sounds of Ireland’ 2015 St Patrick’s Day Festival, D-Cube Plaza, Sindorim

The Irish Association of Korea (IAK) will hold its annual St Patrick’s Day Festival on Saturday 14 March from 1 – 6pm in D- Cube Plaza, Sindorim. This year’s theme is ‘Sounds of Ireland’. The event promises a host of traditional music and dance acts as well as modern bands with a contemporary take on Irish music.

Presentation of Presidential Distingushed Service Award to Fr PJ McGlinchey

Ambassador O'Donoghue travelled to Jeju Island to present the Presidential Distinguished Service Award to Fr PJ McGlinchey. Fr McGlinchey had been unable to travel to Ireland for the award cermony in Áras an Uachtaráin on 30th October 2014.

Ambassador O'Donoghue visits Alma Mater UCC

Ambassador O’Donoghue attended a major three-day conference which brought together more than 90 Irish Ambassadors,  Consuls General and senior diplomats  with the Taoiseach, Tánaiste, Government Ministers, as well as representatives of Irish companies, other Government departments , the State Agencies, third level institutions and the creative sectors in Dublin between 12-14 January 2015, in Dublin Castle.
