Ireland Working Holiday Programme Orientation

Ambassador O'Donoghue addresses Working Holiday Orientation - Ireland Working Holiday Programme Induction

The Embassy in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korea Foundation held the inaugural 'Ireland Working Holiday Programme Orientation' on Tuesday 27 January from 7-9pm.

The objective of the Orientation was to give practical information to those who were awarded Working Holiday Authorizations in the second half of 2014 before they depart for Ireland and to make initial contact with participants with a view to engaging with them upon their return to Korea through various networking events.

Ambassador O'Donoghue and Director of Consular Services at the Foreign Ministry Jin Hee Oh gave opening and welcoming remarks.

Presentations were given on topics such as preparations before your depart, finding a job and accommodation, safety and security while abroad and connecting with Irish people and culture while in Ireland and on your return to Korea. The format included a panel discussion on the topics being presented and a audience Questions and Answer session.

Three of the presentations were given by former working holiday participants who had written a travel and information book on the Irish working holiday programme, followed by contributions from the Irish Association of Korea and the Working Holiday Information Centre (Division within the Foreign Ministry)

56 Working Holiday participants registered and attended the event which was hosted in the Korea Foundations Cultural Centre seminar room in downtown Seoul. The Korea Foundation is a leading organization in the promotion of Korea's international exchange and public diplomacy initiatives and is affiliated with the Foreign Ministry.

The Embassy would like to thanks all the contributors to the evening including the presenter, volunteers and our colleagues in the Korean Foreign ministry and Korea Foundation.
